Difference

I do not believe it is possible for someone to be too different. There may be people who do things that society finds strange or different, but so long as the person doing these actions is not seriously harming someone then there shouldn’t be a problem with what they do.

Chapter 20, Court case

Which statement made by Atticus in chapter 20 is the most Compelling? Which statement would make a jury decide Tom is innocent?

By this point in the court case Atticus was making many highly persuasive statements that held evidence of Tom Robinson’s innocence, there was one particular statement that stood out. “You know the truth, and the truth is this: some Negroes lie, some Negroes are immoral, some Negro men are not to be trusted around women—black or white. But this is a truth that applies to the human race and to no particular race of men. There is not a person in this courtroom who has never told a lie, who has never done an immoral thing, and there is no man living who has never looked upon a woman without desire.” This was the most convincing statement Atticus made throughout the entire court case.
